2026-2027 Young Artist in Residence – Apply Now!

All Classical Radio’s Young Artist in Residence (YAIR) program is designed to foster creative growth for emerging artists. During the residency, the selected young musician will have opportunities to expand and deepen their engagement with audiences as well as to collaborate with other musicians and composers through the station’s expansive network.

As the 2026-2027 Young Artist in Residence, you will:

Appear on an episode of Thursdays @ Three, All Classical Radio’s weekly live broadcast performance series
Perform at All Classical Radio events, such as special recitals or open houses, as well as external community events
Write content for the station’s website, blog, and social media platforms
Enjoy access to the recording facilities and digital archives of All Classical Radio and the International Children’s Arts Network (ICAN)
Have mentorship opportunities with the station’s Artist in Residence or on air hosts
Participate in a professional photo shoot
Receive a financial scholarship to assist in projects and continued studies

Requirements:

Must play an instrument and/or compose, and have a strong interest in classical music.
Must be between the ages of 13 and 20 at the time of application. If under age 18, consent of parent or guardian is required.

One youth musician will be named the 2026-2027 Young Artist in Residence and will be selected in July with a public announcement in September. The residency runs through June 2027; time commitment will vary based on activities and is approximately 2-4 hours per month.

In 3-5 sentences, please explain what you love about classical music, and why you want to be All Classical Radio's next Young Artist in Residence (YAIR). What is one thing you would want to accomplish in the role of YAIR?

Please submit a short (5-10 minute) video of yourself playing a piece of music on your instrument. Introduce yourself and explain why you selected that piece of music. What do you love about it? What does it mean to you? The quality does not have to be professional, smart phone recordings are fine. However, we must be able to clearly see the musician performing, and it all must be in one take. To submit your video, please upload it to Dropbox, Google drive, or YouTube (as unlisted) and send us the direct link below.

Guidelines: Please make sure there is very little to no outside noise, and make sure the lighting is good enough to see the musician. Set up the camera so the musician can be seen from at least the waist up, and position the music stand so we can see the musician’s instrument. For those using larger instruments, please try to capture as much of the musician as possible in the frame.

Our next Young Artist in Residence will be featured on air introducing musical pieces. Please research and write a short radio introduction for this piece: Aaron Copland's "El Salón México." Then, record an audio clip of yourself reading what you wrote. Pretend that this recording would be going out live over the radio.
