Beaverton Symphony Orchestra: Young Artists Concert

Be amazed and inspired by the incredible talent of the 2026 Travis Hatton Young Artists Competition winners, Andy Shin, Andrew Lee, and Annie Rhew performing Dvorák – Cello Concerto in B Minor and Sibelius – Violin Concerto in D minor!

Beaverton Symphony Orchestra will perform these concerto masterpieces along with the rousing Slavonic March by Tchaikovsky and the “Romantic” Symphony by Howard Hanson. Despite the name, Hanson’s Symphony No. 2 is not from the 19th-century Romantic tradition but embodies a 20th-century romantic sensibility infused with lush harmonies, lyricism, and raw emotion. It’s a style that was later adopted by the great film composers of Hollywood’s heydays, most notably John Williams.

Hanson’s Second Symphony will surely sound familiar to anyone who enjoys the sweeping orchestral scores of old Hollywood blockbusters, and it will satisfy concertgoers who long for experiences that stir the emotions.
