“I’ve always wondered how many great artists have never been recognized. I would venture many. “I believe Don Nigro was a genius of theatre you never heard of” says director Jerry Mouawad. After I selected four of his works earlier this year, Nigro died. The Flying Solo Festival, which features four of his solos, has now become a homage to Nigro’s prolific work – he wrote over 500 plays!”

American Theatre’s Lawrence Harbison wrote “he was hardly on the radar. Why not? Don lived in a small house in Northeast Ohio with his father, a disabled veteran who had been seriously wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and needed constant care. So, Don couldn’t travel, making it hard for him to do the sort of networking so important for establishing a reputation. And, anyway, he would rather stay home and write.”
