Portland Youth Philharmonic opens its 103rd season with Autumn Magnolias at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
Guitarist Gwenyth Aggeler takes center stage in Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, becoming the first guitar soloist in PYP’s history. From its lively outer movements to its beloved, expressive Adagio, Rodrigo’s concerto offers a vivid showcase for the classical guitar. Led by Musical Director David Hattner, the program also features Joaquín Turina’s La procesión del Rocío, Carlos Chávez’s Sinfonía India, and Ostinato by PYP student composer Alejandro Belgique.
Join PYP for an evening celebrating extraordinary young musicians, a student composer’s voice, and a historic first for the orchestra.
